The Master’s College selected three students as its athletes of the year.
Jacquelyn Marshall and Samantha Dougherty shared female athlete of the year honors. Steve Karkenny was selected as the male athlete of the year.
Marshall was a first team NAIA All American selection in women’s basketball. She also earned a spot on the All Golden State Athletic Conference team. She led the Lady Mustangs to the NAIA national tournament.

The Master’s College women’s basketball was ranked as high as No. 7 in the NAIA top 25 national poll.

Dougherty led The Master’s College to the NAIA national women’s volleyball tournament. She was selected to the NAIA national championship all-tournament team and was on the NAIA All American team.
Karkenny led The Master’s College in eight offensive categories including batting average, home runs and RBIs. He was an NAIA All American and selected to the All Golden State Athletic Conference team.
In the World Cup, the United States ended their run in the knockout round against Belgium.
The United States lost to Belgium, 2-1. All three goals were scored in extra time after the two teams played to a scoreless draw in regulation.
US goalkeeper Tim Howard made 16 saves in the match, a World Cup record.
In the other Round of 16 game, Argentina beat Switzerland, 1-0.

In the major leagues, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Cleveland Indians, 10-3, and snapped their three-game winning streak.
The Dodgers and Indians wrap up their series this afternoon. Hyun-Jin Ryu starts for the Dodgers against Hart High graduate Trevor Bauer for the Indians.
