Santa Clarita Sports: Santa Clarita Update August 28, 2014

The Master’s College women’s soccer team beat Menlo College, 3-2, and won its first game of the season.

Kellian Ahearn scored two goals and Cassie Mikalson notched the game-winner in the second half.

The score was tied 2-2 at halftime. Menlo College took a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 13th minute. The Master’s College scored two goals to take a 2-1 lead.

Menlo College tied the score with a goal off a free kick on the 40th minute.

Mikalson put the Lady Mustangs up for good with a goal in the 55th minute.

The Master’s College improved to 1-2. The Lady Cougars play their home opener against MidAmerica Nazarene University on Monday.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers beat the Diamondbacks, 3-1, and completed a two-game sweep in Arizona.

Clayton Kershaw won his major league leading 16th game of the season. He struck out 10 and walked two in eight innings.

The Dodgers have the day off today. They start a weekend series against the Padres in San Diego on Friday.
