Santa Clarita Sports: Santa Clarita Update August 11, 2014

Valencia High graduate Alison Lee lost in the quarterfinals at the US Women’s Amateur golf championship at Nassau Country Club in New York.

Lee, the third-ranked amateur in the world, lost to Brooke Mackenzie Henderson, the No. 2 amateur in the world.

Henderson won 1-up and never trailed in the match. She went 2-up on the 12th hole, but Lee cut her lead to 1-up on the 17th hole. Henderson won the match with a par on the 18th hole.

In auto racing, David Mayhew won the NASCAR Pro Late Models race at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield on Saturday night. It was his fourth win of the season in the Pro Late Models.

Gene Fife won the Super Stocks race. Ian Anderson won the INEX Thunder Roadsters race, Brandon Weaver won the INEX Legends race, Tyler Bannister won the INEX Bandoleros race and Alex Patino won the 911 Racing Series race.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-1, and salvaged the final game of the weekend series.

Clayton Kershaw won his 14th game of the season and is tied for the National League lead.
