Canyon High graduate Greg Pursley had a productive weekend at Iowa Speedway in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series.
He was the top-finishing driver from the K&N Pro Series West at the race in Iowa. The race pitted the top drivers from the K&N Pro Series East and West.
Pursley finished in ninth place overall. He was one of two drivers from the West Series to finish in the top 10.

Brandon Jones from the K&N Pro Series East won the race. It was the first of his career.
Pursley extended his lead in the K&N Pro Series West standings to 34 points over Dylan Lupton.
The next race in the K&N Pro Series West is at Evergreen Speedway in Washington on Aug. 16.

In the Verizon IndyCar Series, Jack Hawksworth, driving for Bryan Herta Autosport, was 16th in the Honda Indy 200 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
Scott Dixon won the race, the 34th of his career. He is tied with Al Unser Jr. for sixth all-time on the IndyCar Series win list.
In beach volleyball, Valencia High’s Kyle Ensing competed in the U19 World Championships in Portugal. He was teamed with Tyler Cobian from Ventura in the international tournament. They lost to a team from the Netherlands in the single-elimination qualifying round.
Forty-seven teams from 33 countries participated in the tournament.
