Santa Clarita Sports: Santa Clarita Christian Baseball Ranked No. 1

In high school baseball, Santa Clarita Christian is ranked No. 1 in the CIF Southern Section Division 7 poll after winning a pair of games against Trinity Classical Academy.

Santa Clarita Christian is coming off a 10-0 shutout over Trinity. Clint Ross pitched five shutout innings and went 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs and a double.

Santa Clarita Christian takes on Faith Baptist in a Heritage League game today.

The Saugus and Hart baseball teams are ranked in the top 10 in the Southern Section Division 1 poll.

Saugus is tied for ninth with Alemany. Hart is ranked No. 10. Saugus and Hart are tied for first place in the Foothill League standings with 8-3 records.

In high school softball, West Ranch is ranked No. 7 in the Southern Section Division 1 poll. The Wildcats are undefeated at 6-0 in the Foothill League.

The Santa Clarita Christian softball team is ranked No. 7 in the Southern Section Division 7 poll. The Cardinals are 5-0 in the Heritage League.

In high school tennis, the West Ranch and Valencia boys are ranked in the top 10 in the Southern Section Division 2 poll. West Ranch is No. 8 and Valencia is No. 9. West Ranch won the Foothill League championship last week, ending Valencia’s nine-year run as league champ.

In high school volleyball, the Valencia boys are ranked No. 9 in the Southern Section Division 1 poll.

Los Angeles Sports Report

The Kings are on a roll. They beat the Anaheim Ducks, 3-1, and have won six NHL playoff games in a row.

Marian Gaborik gave the Kings a 1-0 lead in the first period. Alec Martinez put the Kings up 2-1 later in the first period. The Kings scored an empty-netter in the third period.

The Kings are up 2-0 in the Western Conference semifinals. Game 3 is at Staples Center on Thursday.

In the NBA, the Clippers stunned the Oklahoma City Thunder, 122-105, in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals.

Chris Paul went off, scoring 32 points and making eight 3-pointers for the Clippers.

Game 2 is in Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers lost the series opener against the Washington Nationals 4-0. The game was delayed due to rain for 3 hours and 17 minutes.

Clayton Kershaw is off the disabled list and will make his second start of the season today.
