In college baseball, The Master’s College lost to Davenport from Michigan, 4-0, on the first day of the NAIA national tournament.
Davenport scored four runs in the first inning. The Master’s College collected only five hits in the game.
The Mustangs, the No. 2 seed in the Santa Clarita bracket of the NAIA tournament, plays Vanguard this morning.

In football, three offensive linemen who played at College of the Canyons earned spots on NFL teams.
Tavon Rooks was selected in the sixth round by the New Orleans Saints in the sixth round. He played at COC in 2010 and spent two years at Kansas State.

Will Latu signed a free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. He played at COC and Abilene Christian University.
Karim Barton signed as a free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles. He played at COC in 2009 and at Morgan State University.
In high school tennis, four teams from the Foothill League are in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs. Two open in the wild-card round today.
The Hart boys are home for a match against Buena Park. Golden Valley travels to play Pacifica in Oxnard.
West Ranch and Valencia are also in the Division 2 playoffs. Their first matches are on Wednesday.

Los Angeles Sports Report
The Kings are facing elimination again in the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs.
The Los Angeles Kings lost to the Anaheim Ducks, 4-3, in Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals. The Ducks lead the series, 3-2.
The Kings were down 3-0 to the San Jose Sharks in the first round of the playoffs. They won four games in a row to win the series.
Now the Kings need to win Game 6 to stay alive in the playoffs.
Game 6 is at Staples Center on Wednesday.
In the major leagues, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Miami Marlins 6-5 in the first game of a three game series. yasiel Puig hit a 3-run homerun to propel the Dodgers to take the lead in the 4th inning 4-3. The Dodgers tacked on two more runs in the 5th and were able to hold off the Marlins late 8th inning push to win 6-5.
Game 2 of the series between the Dodgers and the Marlins is tonight. Josh Beckett starts for the Dodgers against Jacob Turner for the Marlins.
