The Hart baseball team made quick work of Canyon to stay in first place in the Foothill League standings.
Hart scored five runs in the first inning and cruised to a 7-2 win over Canyon.
Dayton Provost hit a home run and scored two runs for Hart. Cody Miller went 2-for-3, drove in two runs and extended his hitting streak to seven games.
Hart is all alone in first place in the Foothill League with a 6-1 record. Canyon dropped to 1-6.

The Valencia baseball team beat West Ranch, 4-2, and won its fifth Foothill League game in a row.
Keston Hiura hit a solo home run and scored three runs for Valencia. The Vikings are 5-2 in the Foothill League. West Ranch dropped to 4-3.
The Saugus baseball team beat Golden Valley, 6-2. The Centurions are tied with Valencia for second place in the Foothill League standings at 5-2. Golden Valley lost its seventh league game in a row.
In track and field, West Ranch’s Nathan Bultman won the seeded boys discus at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut. He won the event with a throw of 168 feet, 5 inches.
The West Ranch girls won 4×100 meter hurdle relay race in 1 minute, 7.07 seconds.
Tim White, competing for College of the Canyons, was fifth in the triple jump at 16.45 meters.
In auto racing, David Mayhew won the NASCAR Pro Late Models race at Kern County Raceway Park. Dylan Baker won the mini stocks race, John Piker won the street stocks race and Josh Stevens won the 911 Racing Series event.

Los Angeles Sports Report
In the NHL, the Los Angeles Kings lost to the San Jose Sharks, 7-2, in the opening round of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs.
The Kings were up 2-0 in the first period. The Sharks scored seven unanswered goals.
The Sharks are up 2-0 in the series. Game 3 is at Staples Center on Tuesday.
In the major leagues, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 4-1. Yasiel Puig hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning. The Dodgers took two of three games against the Diamondbacks over the weekend.
The Dodgers start a series against the Philadelphia Phillies tonight. Paul Malholm starts for the Dodgers against Cliff Lee for the Phillies.
