Santa Clarita Sports: Hart And Canyon Boys Basketball Reach Quarterfinals

The Hart and Canyon boys basketball teams are in the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section playoffs.

The Valencia boys were eliminated.

Hart won its second round game, 81-34, over Kaiser in the second round of the Division 2A playoffs. Hart got off to a hot start, leading 30-10 in the first quarter. Lewis Stallworth scored 13 points in the first quarter and finished with 20.

Hart plays Tustin in the quarterfinals on Friday night.

Valencia lost on the road against Trabuco Hills, 74-65, in the second round of the Division 2AA playoffs.

The Trinity Classical Academy boys basketball team beat Baptist Christian, 76-45, in the quarterfinals of the Division 6 playoffs.

The Santa Clarita Christian boys basketball team beat Shalhevet, 55-30, and reached the semifinals of the Division 5A playoffs.

In high school soccer, the Hart boys beat Lawndale, 3-2, and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Division 4 playoffs.

Anthony Salvadori scored the game-winner in the 70th minute and broke a 2-2 tie.

The Valencia boys soccer team lost to Artesia, 3-1 on penalty kicks, in the second round of the Division 4 playoffs. The two teams played to a scoreless draw in regulation.

In college basketball, The Master’s College women lost to Vanguard, 82-65, in a match-up of top 10 teams in the NAIA.

Vanguard is the No. 1 team in the NAIA and undefeated at 24-0. The Master’s College is ranked No. 7.

The Master’s College men lost to Vanguard, 69-61. Vanguard is the No. 10 team in the NAIA.

In the NBA, the Lakers lost to the Indiana Pacers, 118-98. They have lost six of their past seven games. The Lakers play the Grizzlies in Memphis tonight.

In the NHL, the Kings are back on the ice after the Winter Olympics break. They are in Colorado for a game against the Avalanche tonight.
