Santa Clarita Sports: Four Boys Basketball Teams Still Alive In Playoffs

The Hart boys basketball team takes on Tustin tonight in the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division 2A playoffs.

They are one of four basketball teams from the Santa Clarita Valley still alive in the Southern Section playoffs.

Canyon, Santa Clarita Christian and the Trinity Classical Academy boys basketball teams are in action tonight.

The Hart boys crushed Kaiser, 81-34, to reach the quarterfinals. Tustin is coming off a 72-64 double overtime win over Arroyo Grande in the second round of the playoffs.

The Canyon boys play Elsinore in the quarterfinals of the Division 2AA playoffs. Canyon knocked out La Habra, 67-50, in the second round. Elsinore squeaked past Claremont, 68-66, in its second-round game.

The game is at Canyon High.

The Santa Clarita Christian boys take on Capistrano Valley Christian in the semifinals of the Division 5A playoffs. Santa Clarita Christian beat Shalhelvet, 55-30, in the quarterfinals.

The Trinity Classical Academy boys play Laguna Blanca in the semifinals of the Division 6 playoffs. Trinity is the No. 1 seed in Division 6.

In NASCAR, Canyon High graduate Greg Pursley opened the K&N West Series season with a top-five finish at Phoenix International Raceway. He was fourth in the race. Cole Custer from Ladera Ranch won the Talking Stick Resort 75.

Santa Clarita’s Rich DeLong III was 17th.

In the NHL, the Kings

The Kings play the Carolina Hurricanes at Staples Center on Saturday.
