Santa Clarita Sports: College Of The Canyons Baseball Take Conference Game

The College of the Canyons baseball team beat West LA College, 8-3, in a Western State Conference game.

David Oppenheim hit two home runs, went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs.

COC starter JC Cloney gave up one run on four hits in eight innings. He struck out nine and walked one.

The Cougars scored four runs in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead.

COC is 12-5 in conference.

In college softball, College of the Canyons lost to Bakersfield College, 11-6, in a Western State Conference game. The Lady Cougars dropped to 12-3 in conference.

In auto racing, the NASCAR Late Models are in action with Twin 35s at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield on Saturday night.

The NASCAR Spec-Mods, INEX Legends and Bandoleros are also scheduled to race.

The green flag drops at 7.

Los Angeles Sports Report

In the NHL, the Los Angeles Kings shut out the Edmonton Oilers, 3-0, and snapped a three-game losing streak. Marian Gaborik scored two goals and had an assist. Goaltender Martin Jones made 17 saves for his fourth shutout of the season.

The Kings take on the Anaheim Ducks in the regular season finale on Saturday.

In the major leagues, the Los Angeles Dodgers are in Arizona for a weekend series against the Diamondbacks. Hyun-Jin Ryu starts for the Dodgers against Brandon McCarthty for the Diamondbacks tonight.
