Santa Clarita Sports: College Of The Canyons Baseball Improves In Standings

The College of the Canyons baseball team beat LA Valley College, 6-1, in a Western State Conference game.

Roberto Ramos was 2-for-3 and drove in two runs. Justin Russell was 3-for-4 with a double.

COC is 10-4 in conference and 14-12-1 overall.

In high school softball, West Ranch beat Hart, 13-1, in the Foothill League opener for both teams. West Ranch took a 4-0 lead in the first inning and was up 13-0 in the fourth inning.

Saugus shut out Valencia, 12-0, in its Foothill League opener.

In college basketball, The Master’s College women were ranked No. 12 in the final NAIA national poll.

The Lady Mustangs were ranked as high as No. 7 and lost in the first round of the NAIA tournament. They finished with a 24-9 record.

In college baseball, The Master’s College dropped to No. 14 in the NAIA. The Mustangs were ranked No. 7 in the NAIA last week.

They are 27-10 overall. The Mustangs are on the road against Vanguard today.

Los Angeles Sports Report

In the NBA, the Clippers lost to the Dallas Mavericks, 109-103. Next up for the Clippers are the Lakers on Sunday.

In the NHL, the Los Angeles Kings, lost to the San Jose Sharks, 2-1, and had their eight-game winning streak on the road snapped.

The Sharks scored two goals in the second period to win the game.

The Kings are in Vancouver for a game against the Canucks on Saturday.

In the major leagues, the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the San Francisco Giants in their home opener. The Dodgers are 4-1.

Hyun-Jin Ryu starts for the Dodgers against Ryan Volgelsong for the Giants. Listen to the game on AM 1220 KHTS. First pitch is at 1:10.
