Santa Clarita Sports: Championship Weekend For 3 Teams In Santa Clarita

CIF Championships on the line for three Santa Clarita Valley teams. 

It is championship weekend for three teams from the Santa Clarita Valley.

Hart girls soccer

The Hart girls soccer team, the Trinity Classical Academy and Santa Clarita Christian boys basketball teams will be playing for CIF championships on Saturday.

The Hart girls soccer team plays Chino Hills in the Division 2 championship game at Corona High School on Saturday.

Hart has won eight games in a row, including for in the playoffs. The Hart girls are coming off a 1-0 shutout over West Torrance in the semifinals.

Chino Hills is the No. 2 seed in the playoffs and the champion of the Sierra League.

Kickoff is at 2:30.

Santa Clarita High School Basketball

The Santa Clarita Christian boys basketball team plays Renaissance Academy for the Division 5A championship.

The game is at Godinez High in Santa Ana. Tipoff is set for 9:30 in the morning.

The Trinity Classical Academy boys basketball team takes on Desert Chapel in the Division 6 championship game.

Trinity is in the Division 6 championship game for the second year in a row. They are the No. 1 seed in the Division 6 playoffs.

The game between Trinity and Desert Chapel follows the Santa Clarita Christian game at Godinez High.

In college basketball, The Master’s College women beat San Diego Christian, 77-50, in the first round of the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament.

Los Angeles Kings

In the NHL, the Kings made a deadline deal for Marian Gaborik, a three-time all star, from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Kings sent winger Matt Frattin and two draft picks to the Blue Jackets for Gaborik. He has played in just 22 games this season with six goals and 14 points.

The new-look Kings take the ice against the Winnipeg Jets tonight, the first game of a three-game Canadian road trip.

The Kings have won five games in a row.

Kyle Jellings grew up in the Santa Clarita Valley and graduated from Canyon High School in 2004. Following his high school career he spent three years at College of the Canyons where he graduated with his Associate's Degree.
