Hart Boys Basketball Team Remains Undefeated In Foothill League

The Hart boys basketball team remained undefeated in the Foothill League with a 83-43 thrashing against West Ranch.

The 40-point blowout was the biggest margin of victory against a Foothill League opponent for Hart this season. The Indians improved to 6-0 in league. Lewis Franklin led Hart with 26 points. Myles Franklin scored 20.

West Ranch dropped to 3-3 in the Foothill League.

The Valencia boys ended their little two-game slide with a 62-42 win over Saugus. Malik McCowan led Valencia with 20 points and the Vikings improved to 4-2 in league.

The Canyon boys beat Golden Valley, 76-48. Ben Taufahema scored 20 points, made four 3-pointers and had nine rebounds for Canyon.

The Cowboys are tied for second place with Valencia in the Foothill League standings at 4-2.

On the girls side, Valencia knocked off Saugus, 57-28, and ran its Foothill League record to 6-0.

But the Valencia girls lost to Ventura, 49-34, in the Ventura Shootout over the weekend.

The Canyon girls beat Golden Valley, 63-52, and improved to 5-1 in the Foothill League. Kali Vittallo led Canyon with 28 points.

The West Ranch girls beat Hart, 59-51. Whitney Branham scored 27 points. The West Ranch girls improved to 3-3 in league. Hart dropped to 3-3.

Santa Clarita Soccer

In high school soccer, the Valencia girls shut out Saugus, 5-0. Bailey Reid scored two goals and the Valencia girls improved to 5-0-1 against the Foothill League.

The Hart boys beat West Ranch, 3-2, and won their fifth game in a row. The Indians are in first place in the Foothill League standings at 5-1-0.

The Golden Valley boys beat Canyon, 3-1, and won their second Foothill League game of the season.

Golden Valley and Valencia are tied for second place in the league standings at 2-2-2.

Valencia and Saugus played to a scoreless draw.

Super Bowl XLVIII

In the NFL, the Seattle Seahawks won the Super Bowl, 43-8, over the Denver Broncos. Seahawks linebacker Malcolm Smith was selected as the MVP. He returned an interception 69 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter to give the Seahawks a 22-0 lead.

Los Angeles Kings Hockey

In the NHL, the Kings are home for a game against the Chicago Blackhawks. The Kings have lost eight of their past nine games and are coming off a 2-0 shutout loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.
