    Sports Complex Offers More Bang For Your Buck

    In a recent informal phone survey conducted by the city, results showed that monthly membership at the Sports Complex for both residents and non-residents is half the average of the monthly memberships for L.A. Fitness, SCV Athletic Club and Spectrum Sports Club.

    Unsuspecting Limo Driver Gets Assaulted

    Rowdy passengers in a limo early Sunday morning caused a world of trouble for their driver.

    At around 2:00am Sunday, a limousine was driving its passenger’s home, when they began fighting amongst themselves.

    When the driver arrived at the drop off point, on Arroyo Park Drive in Valencia, the fighting men turned their attention to him. 

    Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a fight call, and when they arrived the limo driver was found beaten.

    Councilman Bob Kellar To Seek Re-Election.

    Veteran Councilman wants to “finish the job."

    Santa Clarita Councilman Bob Kellar has declared his intention to run for re-election when his term ends in April 2008.

    “Santa Clarita is a special place and I am deeply committed to serving this community.  There are many challenges before us including public safety, the CEMEX issue, and the clean up of Whittaker-Bermite along with a responsible development plan.  I very much would like to continue working on these important issues in behalf of our city.” stated Kellar.

    Santa Clarita Loses A Founding Voice In Death Of J.J O’Brien

    Santa Clarita legend, John, O’Brien died over the weekend. He was a former officer with the California Highway Patrol, and was a key proponent of Santa Clarita forming its own city.Many remember him as one who took an active role in many of the issues that made this city the success that it is today.

    He was also a local teacher and overall nice guy.

    He was 76 years old.

    Vazquez Canyon Road Closed

    Vasquez Canyon Road  is closed due to a power line down.  This will affect traffic from Bouquet Canyon. Rd. through Sierra Highway, for the drive home tonight.People who live in the area will be able to get through, however but no through traffic.

    Former Champions To Play In AT&T Champions Classic

    Defending champion and two-time event winner Tom Kite heads the list of former champions who are among the early entries for the 18th annual AT&T Champions Classic golf tournament March 12-18 at Valencia Country Club. 

    Kite, a 5-shot winner over Gil Morgan in 2006, is one of four men in this year’s field to have won the PGA Tour’s Champions Tour event on this 6,940-yard, par 72 course, which is considered one of the most difficult on the tour.
