    Pipeline Study Lacks

    City of Santa Clarita officials said that a preliminady study on a proposed liquefied natural gas pipeline through the valley has not fully explored potential effects....

    According to Kai Luoma, a senior planner, the city always wants to ensure to the best of its ability natural resources in the valley.


    In this case, the Santa Clara River could be impacted, but officials stopped short of opposing the project altogether.

    Winter Weather? Or Not?

    Today, officially 9:42 a.m., marks the beginning of the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere....

    Southern California remains the envy of the country, as a white Christmas is only a possibility if you head to local mountains.  Temperatures will remain in the 60s during the day and 40s overnight in Santa Clarita all week long and through Christmas, with breezy conditions. 

    Valencia Jewelry Store Drama

    At about 1 p.m. Monday, Branden Dotson, 21, of Los Angeles entered the Prince of Jewelers Jewelry store in Valencia and requested to look at a large 3.85 carat diamond....

    Employees noticed a suspicious attitude about the suspect, so they stood by the door.  Almost as if staged, the suspect took the diamond and ran, where the employees and a customer tackled the suspect and held him down until Sheriff's deputies arrived a few minutes later.

    Another Sobriety Checkpoint Successful

    The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station conducted a D.U.I. sobriety checpoint on Friday evening....

    The checkpoint was located on Lyons Avenue near Avenida Dorena, where 1119 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, 12 vehicles were pulled off the line where their drivers received further questioning.


    Five drivers were arrested for D.U.I., including one individual that was arrested for being under the influence and in possession of a controlled substance.


     

    Female Assaulted in Newhall

    At about 11 p.m. on Sunday evening, a 17 year-old female was standing in front of a friend's home talking, when she was stabbed....

    A 20 year-old hispanic male walked by the victim, suddenly slashed her neck with a knife, and stabbed her in the back several times.


    Family members took the victim to a local hospital, where she was treated for injuries that were considered serious but not life threatening.


    Sheriff's Deputies are investigating this crime and appreciate any information at (661) 255-1121.
