    125 Probation Violators Arrested In February Sweeps

    Probation searches recover cache of illegal weapons, drugs.


    During the month of February, D.I.S.A.R.M officers confiscated 64 weapons -- including 22 handguns and 12 rifles/shotguns, seized over $28,000 in illegal drugs, and arrested 125 probationers during 1,200 unannounced searches of residences, persons, vehicles, and businesses, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich . 

    Watson Takes Champions Title After Playoff

    Third time proves the charm for Zimbabwe national.


    After three playoff rounds, Denis Watson of Zimbabwe beat out American Loren Roberts with a birdie on the third hole, ending up 7 under par with a total score of 209.

    This is Watson’s third Champions Tour title, winning the Senior PGA Championship and the Boeing Classic in 2007. The wins came after a 23-year hiatus. His last win, a 1984 PGA Tour in Las Vegas, resulted in a freak injury and subsequent surgeries that nearly ended his playing career.

    Battle For Champions Crown Heats Up

    What a difference a day makes. At the close of business yesterday, Nick Price and last year’s champion Tom Purtzer held the respective one and two slots of the AT&T Champions Classic being held at the Valencia Country Club. 


    Today, Price slumped following a 5 over par to 17th place, while Purtzer faltered late and ended with a 1 over par, which dropped him into an overall tie for 7th place.

    City Expands Open Space On Eastside

    900-acre parcel is largest acquisition in city's history.


    The City of Santa Clarita added 900 acres of greenbelt to its open spaces on Wednesday, dedicating land at the head of Golden Valley Ranch trail.


    The parcel, which is the largest open space acquisition in the city’s history, includes area bordering the Placerita Nature Center and parts of Sand Canyon and the Fair Oaks Ranch community.
