    The Child and Family Center and city of Santa Clarita are partnering to offer a free "Parents Night" workshop on Tuesday. A local therapist will help parents learn how to motivate children to strive for academic success.

    Santa Clarita Sheriff's Station Captain Hosts 2nd Coffee With The Captain

    Santa Clarita Valley residents will have a chance to meet the new Sheriff’s Station captain Wednesday at Starbucks on Golden Valley Road in Canyon Country. Capt. Roosevelt Johnson, a longtime Santa Clarita Valley resident, is hosting a series of public outreach meetings called Coffee with the Captain at each “zone” in the Santa Clarita Valley. The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Crime Prevention Unit, which is essentially patrol division of the station, created eight zones for the Santa Clarita Valley.

    Agua Dulce Man, LAPD Detective Supervisor Seeks Sheriff's Office

    Agua Dulce resident Lou Vince, a detective supervisor with the Los Angeles Police Department, is running for sheriff to bring “a broader perspective” to the Sheriff’s Department, he said Thursday. “I see the office of the sheriff as a leader in the criminal justice system,” Vince said, adding that the office of Sheriff provides the opportunity to go beyond just finding the best ways tomake arrests, which is the focus of the LAPD. “I want to improve outcomes for people, instead of finding new and better ways to put them in jail, which is what cops are in the business of,” Vince said, “and improving the county as a whole.”

    County Board To Vote On Several Projects Affecting Santa Clarita Valley

    Several decisions that would affect the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding areas are on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors' agenda for Tuesday's meeting. These involve, road expansions, sewer fees and improvements for Pitchess Detention Center.

    Santa Clarita CEO Charged With Trying To Have Wife Killed Due Back In Court

    A Canyon Country CEO charged with asking a hitman to have his model wife killed could have his trial start May 1 if things remain on schedule, according to officials with the District Attorney’s Office. Dino Guglielmelli, 52, of Canyon Country, who founded the multimillion-dollar business Creation’s Garden, was ordered to stand trial in December after being accused of trying to pay $80,000 to have his wife, Monica Andreny, killed. On April 22, the case is coming back for an update on attorney motions, as the defendent refused to waive time in the trial.

    2014 Congressional Art Competition Deadline Approaches

    The deadline for high school students to submit artwork to the 2014 Congressional Art Competition is April 21. High school students from each congressional district will compete for a chance to have their artwork displayed in the Cannon Tunnel.

    Santa Clarita Sports: Saugus Baseball Hands Hart First Loss Of The Season

    The Saugus baseball team did something to Hart no other team has been able to do this season.

    Saugus beat Hart, 6-1, handing the Indians their first loss.

    Hart entered the game with a perfect 4-0 record in the Foothill League. The Indians were 10-0-1 overall.

    Saugus scored four runs in the fifth inning to break a scoreless tie. Saugus starter Eric Little pitched a complete game giving up one run on five hits and struck out 11.

    The Los Angeles Kings Defeat The Phoenix Coyotes 4-0

    In a game heard live on KHTS Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Kings defeat the Phoenix Coyotes by a final score of 4-0.
