    Tickets On Sale Now For Man And Woman Of The Year Awards Dinner

    Local nonprofits have nominated 29 men and women for the honor of 2014 Man and Woman of the Year. The winners will be announced at the Recognition Dinner on May 2 at the Valencia Hyatt. Tickets are available online.

    Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station Officials Host Coffee With The Captain

    Santa Clarita residents took an opportunity to meet with Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Capt. Roosevelt Johnson and Deputy Jonathan Wilson on Wednesday for Coffee with the Captain. Coffee with the Captain is a series of meetings Johnson is holding throughout the community as he begins his new role as captain of the station. Johnson took the helm of the Sheriff’s Station in March, and said he was planning to hold the informal meetings in all eight of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station crime zones. The next meeting will be held at It's A Grind on Tuesday, April 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

    Boys And Girls Club Announces 43rd Annual Charity Auction

    Come dressed in togas for the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley's "When in Rome" Benefit Auction in June. The event will be Jim Ventress' last with the club, and Development Director Rhonda Chobanian said it promises to be a special night.

    Earlier this week, as I was watering my potted plants on the front porch, I discovered a new resident had moved in.  There, smack dab in the middle of my sage plant, I spotted a nest with two small eggs.  Later, I saw a Mourning Dove sitting on the nest, her two brown eyes carefully watching my every move.

    Santa Clarita Sports: College Of The Canyons Softball In First Place

    The College of the Canyons softball team split a doubleheader with Citrus College and took over first place in the Western State Conference game.

    The Lady Cougars lost the first game, 8-6, but won the second game, 5-4.

    Kori Cochran doubled in two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for COC in the second game.
