The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the southbound Interstate 5 near Templin Highway around 11 a.m. Thursday morning.
“The female adult driver became upset,” said Sgt. Richard Nagler of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
She pushed the deputy and he pepper-sprayed her before she got back in her car and drove away, according to Nagler.
The pursuit ended on Lake Hughes Road in Castaic.
The woman was arrested and charged with assault on a peace officer.
She is still in custody, and the bail amount is not known.
