Wilk Encourages Sign-ups For Assembly Fellowships

Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R- Santa Clarita, announced Thursday that applications for the 2013-14 Jesse M. Unruh Assembly Fellowship program are now being accepted. All interested constituents are encouraged to apply for the program.

 “The Assembly Fellowship program is a remarkable opportunity to engage in public service, while playing a role in shaping public policy in California. The program is nationally recognized and some graduates have gone on to serve as members of the California Legislature or U.S. Congress,” said Wilk.

The Assembly Fellowship program is co-sponsored by the California State Assembly and California State University, Sacramento, through the Center for California Studies. Applications for the next class of the Assembly Fellowship Program are being accepted through February 11, 2013.  While no specific major is required to apply for the program, applicants must have earned their bachelor’s degree by September 2013.

During the 11-month program, fellows work as legislative assistants for members of the Assembly or policy committees, while taking graduate seminars offered through Sacramento State.  Fellows earn a $1,972 monthly stipend and health, dental and vision benefits.  Upon completion of the program, fellows receive 12 units of graduate credit.

Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R- Santa Clarita, represents the 38th Assembly District, which encompasses Simi Valley, the northern section of the San Fernando Valley and most of the Santa Clarita Valley.
