Sheriff's Station officials said the rumors were looked at, but not deemed "credible," said Lt. Tom Bryski of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.

An on-campus fight Friday led to rumors of a threat of escalating the violence, according to school officials.

"At this time, it appears that this alleged threat was an isolated incident and not random toward the entire student body," according to a statement from West Ranch High School Principal Bob Vincent. "We have assured parents that it is safe to send their students to school tomorrow Monday and extra Sheriff's presence is planned."

School officials are planning an increased law enforcement presence on campus Monday morning in response to the incident.

“We will have extra patrols there at the school and around the school," Bryski said. "The Sheriff's Department investigated and talked to everybody remotely involved in this thing. It appeared that the threat was not credible but it went viral online," he said.

"But we’re going to play it safe," he added.

The increased law enforcement effort will be there for the next few days, officials said.

Vincent put out a message in an effort to assure parents that the threats were being taken seriously by the William S. Hart Union High School District officials.

The rumors are being called “unsubstantiated” in the message, but the rumors are being investigated by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials.

Here’s the message from Vincent, which was sent to KHTS news by Hart district officials:

This is Bob Vincent the principal at West Ranch High School. I am calling today in response to rumors that have been circulating in our community. I want you to know that we are aware of social media posts indicating an alleged threat at West Ranch High School on Monday. I can assure you that the Sheriff’s Department, West Ranch Administrators, and the William S. Hart Union High School District Administration are investigating these unsubstantiated rumors. We plan to have increased Sheriff’s presence on and around campus over the next few days. The safety of our students and staff are our number one priority.
