“The Big Bang Theory” never had it so good. The top-rated CBS sitcom topped the charts and shattered its own series record Thursday in an episode shot at Vasquez Rocks in Agua Dulce.

After a three-week hiatus, “The Big Bang Theory” returned to sweep its 8 p.m. time slot with 19.78 million viewers. It finished first in households (11.8/19), viewers, adults 25-54 (8.1/21), adults 18-49 (6.3/19) and adults 18-34 (4.3/15).

The show is in the rarefied territory of “Friends,” which approached 20 million viewers in its final season.

Thursday night featured the cast (four nerdy scientists) in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” uniforms at Vasquez Rocks – a favorite filming location for the original 1960s sci-fi series and its television and film follow-ons.

In the episode, titled “The Bakersfield Expedition,” the cast decides to go to the Bakersfield Comic-Con but stops for some photos at Vasquez Rocks along the way. While there, they get their car stolen and have to hoof it back to civilization.
