The fire was reported at 2:56 p.m., according to Inspector Scott Miller of the county’s Fire Department. The fire was under control as of 4:05 p.m.

The fire grew to 1.5 acres before it was extinguished, Miller said.

“We have crews working on it,” Miller said, adding that knockdown has not been reported because crews are still working on "mop up."

The initial fire was reported as one-eighth of an acre in size.

The location of the fire was listed as the 22000 block of Pamplico Drive. There were no injuries reported and no structures were threatened.

Two super scoopers and two helicopters were called out to aid in the fire, according to officials.

A resident of a home on nearby Seco Canyon Road reported to KHTS AM-1220 that her home was being evacuated. That report has not been confirmed by Sheriff's Station officials, who did say the park was being evacuated.

The fire was moving in 10 mph winds.

Smoke from the fire is interfering with visibility, so Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station deputies were requested to help with traffic at 3:30 p.m.

Officials with the Forest Service are on scene, as well as Fire Department officials.

Deputies on scene did not comment as to whether it was being investigated as arson.

There’s a water tower between where the fire is burning and the nearest houses.
