Santa Clarita Fourth Of July Road Closures

Due to the Fourth of July events taking place on Friday many road closures and traffic delays are expected. Closures to commence at 7 a.m.

This Friday, as Santa Clarita Valley residents come together to celebrate Independance Day, there will be road closures and heavy traffic delays due to the celebrations.

Heavy traffic at 6:30 a.m. is expected around Hart Park in Newhall, as the equestrian staging begins at Heritage Junction.

One of Santa Clarita’s most popular annual events, the Fourth of July Parade, commences at 9 a.m.At the same time, delays are anticipated on Railroad Avenue between 5th and 6th streets as the Santa Clarita Rotary Club Pancake Breakfast in the Roger Dunn Golf parking lot.

Road Closures are scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. starting on Main Street from both directions continuing from Pine Street to Lyons Avenue.

Lyons Avenue is also scheduled to be closed in both direction from San Fernando Road to Orchard Village Road. Also expecting closures are Orchard Village Road from Lyons Avenue to 16th Street in both directions.

The morning will also feature the Santa Clarita Runner’s 5K, 10K, and Kids K run and non-competitive walk starting and ending at Newhall Park. With the 10K beginning at 7 a.m. and the Kids K at 7:45 a.m. Commencing at 8 a.m. are the 5K and non-competitive walk. Heavy traffic can be expected around the park including road closures as the race is in place.

As the day draws to an end a fireworks show is to be held at the Westfield Valencia Town Center at 9:15 p.m. prompting delays and heavy traffic around the shopping center, especially Valencia Boulevard and Magic Mountain Parkway. 

Beginning at 5 p.m. McBean Parkway is expected to have one lane open on the northbound to Valencia Boulevard and southbound towards Magic Mountain Parkway until 6:45 p.m. when it is expected to be closed in both directions. Eastbound Valencia Boulevard and Magic Mountain Parkway  will both be reduced to one lane between Citrus Street and McBean Parway at 7:15 p.m. About an hour before the fireworks show at 8 p.m. westbound Valencia Boulevard and Magic Mountain Parkway are to be reduced to one lane between McBean Parkway and Citrus Street.

After the fireworks show, traffic lanes are scheduled to reopen at approximately 11 p.m.but due to the high amount of vehicles trying to exit the area, heavy traffic and extensive delays are expected. Use the exits to Citrus Street to travel to the east side of the city and use the signalized exits to Valencia Boulevard or Magic Mountain Parkway to head towards the west side of the city. 

Other firework shows to take place are in Stevenson Ranch at the Dr. Richard Rioux Memorial Park and a 9:15 p.m. show in Fillmore.

Due to the Fireworks Display in Fillmore traffic is expected on Highway 126. The Stevenson Ranch show starts at 9 p.m. and gates will open at 6 p.m.
