Closures are planned as a result of a pavement improvement project on I-5 between Vista Del Lago Road and the Kern County line, according to a press release from the California Department of Transportation.
The goals of the improvement project are to replace the two outside lanes and outside shoulder, and damaged pavement slabs will be replaced in the inside lanes. The project plans to update drainage features, upgrade the wooden guardrail posts to metal, add post mile signage, widen the inside shoulders, replace broken approach and departure slabs and repave ramps, according to the release.
