Touch-A-Truck 2013The interactive, family-friendly event will be held on Saturday, June 14 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Children and adults, alike, will get the opportunity to explore fire trucks, patrol cars, construction rigs, military vehicles, trolleys and a 1925 Ford.

Last year’s highlights included a hazardous materials truck, an ambulance and a dump truck that dumped out beach balls for the children.

“Kids love vehicles,” said City Councilmember Marsha McLean, who is chair of the event, “and now they will be able to touch their favorite things on wheels.”

In keeping with the truck theme, food will be available for purchase from food trucks like Don Chow’s Tacos, Baby’s Burgers, The Mighty Boba Truck and Noodle Nation.

Touch-A-Truck 2013Members of the International Brotherhood of Magicians will be at Central Park, giving magic shows and close-up magic demonstrations. There will also be costumed characters, games and prizes, kid-friendly activities and vendors with boutique items for sale.

Senior Center officials said that the response to the event was overwhelmingly positive last year, with 1,500 attendees.

They expect between 2,000 and 4,000 people this year.

Admission is $5 per person and free for fathers who accompany their children.

All proceeds with benefit the SCV Senior Center, which provides home-delivered meals, senior respite day care, and care management to local seniors, in addition to community activities and exercise classes.

Sponsorships and boutique booth spaces are still available and donations are encouraged. For more information and registration forms, contact Events Coordinator Pam Kile at 661-259-9444 or click here.
