Texaco Country Showdown Preliminary Round To Be Held Saturday June 29

Anyone interested in becoming the next big country music star or band might want to check out the preliminary round of the Texaco Country Showdown on June 29 at Keyboard Galleria Music Center.

The music showcase, which is America’s biggest country music talent show, is hosting a preliminary round in the Santa Clarita Valley, at the local music center in Golden Oaks Plaza.

The deadline is quickly approaching and all entering must submit a video by June 25 to showdown@hometownstation.com.

Out of all the submissions, 10 bands will be chosen to compete in the preliminary round at Keyboard Galleria Music Center on June 29 at 4:00 P.M. There local artists will compete for a chance to perform at Concerts in the Park.

Out of the 10 bands, three bands will be chosen to compete and perform at Concerts in the Park on July 13.

These bands will be chosen by judges: David May, Andrea Standley, and Dennis Weber.

Dennis Weber, CEO of KGMC, tells of the highly acclaimed judges.

David May is a two-time Grammy winning producer, musician, and songwriter. He has worked with Madonna, Alanis Morisette and many more.

Andrea Standley is COO of SONGINC, a music industry veteran who began her career at Warner Brothers Records in the areas of marketing, promotion, video, and production, who is also a songwriter and producer for an upcoming artist.

Weber is BMI songwriter and performer with several of his songs being used on numerous TV shows in the U.S. and abroad.

Once the bands compete at Concerts in the Park, the winner will continue on to the next round of the Texaco Country Showdown. Last year, Poor Man’s Poison competed locally and was sponsored by KHTS.

They won in Santa Clarita and furthered on to the state and regional competitions eventually landing in Nashville as a finalist in the Texaco Country Showdown.

There, they earned the title Best New Act in Country Music and $100,000.

Other previous winners include Jason Aldean, Martina McBride, Sarah Evans, Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley and Billy Ray Cyrus.
