After a two-hour search Friday, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies found Travis Stratton, 4, an autistic Castaic child, unresponsive in a pool.

“As we were leaving the station, our air unit spotted the boy in a neighbor’s pool and directed deputies into the backyard,” according to a Facebook post from a member of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Search and Rescue Team. “Several deputies jumped into the pool, uniforms, guns, radios and all to get to the boy. They immediately began CPR on the unresponsive little boy.”

The hospital staff immediately started lifesaving measures, but it was too late, according to an official. Nobody had any idea how long the child was in the pool.

Travis was pronounced dead shortly after 4 p.m.

Telly’s Drive In in Castaic agreed to donate 20 percent of all food purchases from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on April 2 to help offset the costs of the funeral and a memorial for Travis.

The family also created a page on Give Forward, which has raised almost $2,000 of the family’s $15,000 goal.

Telly’s Drive In is located at 31703 Castaic Road, and donation can also be dropped off at Live Oak Elementary School at 27715 Saddleridge Way in Castaic, c/o Julie Gonzalez.

Donations will also be accepted at Telly’s and the family asks that any donations be made to Tim and Cathy Stratton.

The fundraiser is being supported by Live Oak and Castaic elementary schools, as well as Northlake Hills and Castaic Middle School PTAs.
