Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich partnered with the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation officials to present the Castaic Sports Complex Aquatic Center Grand Opening & Dedication on Friday.

“Castaic has so long awaited such a joyful moment and it is his work and his long term strategy that has been in Prop A, all these funds that have been set aside, and his diligence to bring these things to our communities” said Laurene Weste, “I look forward to this changing the lives of many children and many adults, making us healthier, making children be more motivated to be out doing physical things”.
The new facility cost $13 million and features a competition size pools, splash pad and recreation pool. The pools are designed to be energy efficient and received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver Certification.
Russ Guiney, Director of the L.A. County Dept. of Parks and Rec. opened the ceremony recognizing many of the people who helped make the center possible.
L.A. County Dept of Public Works officials and company, Pera Construction & Design officials, Langdon Wilson International officials, the Principal Engineer of L.A. County of Public Works Gil Garcia, L.A. County Dept. of Parks and Rec. company, L.A. Arts Commission and Bob Zoell who designed the complex all received scrolls.
Trevor Zemp led the Pledge of Allegiance.
A representative from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works officials presented a key to the Castaic Sports Complex Aquatic Center officials.
“We’re gonna let the kids go swimming and even the big kids over twelve can also go swimming” said Antonovich.
