With daily operations in full swing, Six Flags Magic Mountain is touting its newest ride, “Full Throttle,” which is set to open this summer, said theme park spokeswoman Sue Carpenter.

The park’s newest ride, it’s 18th coaster — which is a record, Carpenter said, instantly launches riders from 0-70 miles per hour through a towering “Top Hat” loop that rises 160 feet in the air.
“We’ve got two forward launches and one backward launch,” Carpenter said, describing the unique one-of-a-kind ride. “We have the largest loop that will do this, you will trace the outside of this loop.”
Describing the thrill ride as similar to “Superman the Ride,” but not quite as loud, the “triple-launch” coaster sends thrill-seekers through the air, instead of the traditional gradual climb, she said.
“You don’t go up the lift, you get launched out,” Carpenter explained.
The showcase for the new ride replaces where the popular “Log Jammer” coaster used to sit, Carpenter said.
The area now features a plaza where the theme park has created a new restaurant called High Octane Wings, with original sauces, as well as entertainment screens and an area for families with members who might not yet be ready for the ride’s 54-inch height requirement.
“We are the thrill capitol of the world, we do have the thrill rides,” Carpenter said. “It’s before the big summer crowd and it’s spring break, but people have spring break at different times, so right now is a great time to come to the park.”
