SCVi Officials Are Hosting Kids Create Art Festival On Saturday

SCVi Charter School officials are hosting their third annual Kids Create Art Festival on Saturday. It an alternative to a conventional open house that allows our community to view SCVi learners’ artwork and simultaneously experience live bands, food trucks, carnival games, and hands-on activities, SCVi official said.

The whole event is a collaborative effort between students partnering with staff and parents. Furthermore, the event gives students an opportunity to apply their knowledge in a real life setting, while displaying their artwork and crafts for the public eye.

“Instead of doing a conventional open house, we decided to invite our entire community to it, instead of just parents of the learners,” said events coordinator and sixth grade humanities teacher Cheryl Sena.

“We believe our curriculum should go hand and hand with real life experience,” Sena added. “So our learners were heavily involved in the planning and they took a very active role in organizing the whole event.”

“We try to instill leadership skills in our students through this event by incorporating real life experience and involving them as heavily as possible.

“For example, SCVi students will sell their own handcrafted items at the young entrepreneurs’ fair,” she said in her statement.

The Kids Create Art Festival features art galleries showcasing art from the learners will be on display and performances from SCVi dance, choir, orchestra, martial arts and will showcase local bands like Lockdown. There will also be a petting zoo, and an opportunity for local residents to create chalk art and to watch a civil war reenactment, a reptile show and various plays.

Additionally, there will be carnival games and an assortment of creative arts and crafts activities and an opportunity to discover more about the Santa Clarita Valley International School’s curriculum for anybody who is interested in learning more.

Food trucks featuring Cousin’s Maine Lobster and Kona Ice will also be available.
