The day of events will start at 2 p.m. with Cards for a Cause, an evening “Poker Tour” around Valencia Town Center.

The event will start at Salt Creek Grille, featuring wine tasting, light appetizers and entertainment.

First prize for the card event is $500.

“I’m excited for SCV Youth Project in particular because the organization plays an important role in the community,” said Santa Clarita Mayor Bob Kellar. “I’ve been doing everything I can to bring up awareness for them.”

Admission for Cards for a Cause is $50.

After Cards for a Cause, Kellar will be the honorary chair head of the seventh annual Hold ’Em Not Hassle ‘Em Poker Tournament at the Valencia Country Club.

The event has been a lot of fun in the past, Kellar said, adding that he’s looking forward to seeing people enjoying themselves at the event again this year.

The evening event will feature food, drinks and poker to raise money to benefit SCV Youth Project.

The tournament’s grand prize winner will win an entry into the 2014 World Series of Poker.

The poker tournament will be held at 5 p.m.

Tickets start at $75 with Cards for a Cause receipt.
