SCV Libraries Host Environmental Workshops For Students

The City of Santa Clarita will host a three-part workshop series designed to educate K-12 students on how to prevent pollution and protect our environment. The first workshop in the series will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, at the Old Town Newhall Library, located at 24500 Main Street in Newhall.

All three workshops will be open to the public and include an interactive 3-D landscape with a contained mini watershed, known as an “Enviroscape” model, which demonstrates how pollution is created and how it can be prevented.  The model allows students to better understand the sources of water pollution and what they can do to promote a healthy environment.

“It is important for youth to understand how their actions can affect the environment,” said Santa Clarita Mayor Bob Kellar. “We hope these presentations will leave a lasting impression on how students can prevent water pollution and protect Santa Clarita’s natural resources.”

The Valencia Library will host the second presentation on Wednesday, April 10, at 4:00 p.m.  The Valencia Library is located at 23743 West Valencia Boulevard in Valencia.

The final presentation will take place on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at the Canyon Country Library, located at 18601 Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country.
