“We’re designed to do four things really well -- attract business, grow the ones we have, market Santa Clarita Valley and provide information and research,” said Jonas Peterson, president and CEO of the SCVEDC.
City staffers are recommending a three-year approval of the funding, which is the same amount that the city has spent each year on the organization for the last three years.
“We are thankful for the support of the city that’s allowed us to grow our economic development very quickly,” Peterson said.
The organization helped local businesses save more than $260 million in taxes, according to SCVEDC figures.
“In the last year, we helped over 59 businesses, grow over 2,800 jobs here in the Santa Clarita Valley,” he added. “Those numbers put us among the most productive economic development organizations in the state.”
