The Saugus Union School District will hold their biweekly board meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23. One of the first items on the agenda is Einstein Academy’s petition for a K-6 charter.
The petition, which Einstein submitted earlier this year, is the fourth they have presented to SUSD.
They are already approved for grades 7-11 with the William S. Hart Union High School District and grades K-12 in Ventura County, San Diego and Cleveland, Ohio.
SUSD Board President Judy Umeck said they will make their decision Tuesday after recommendations from their staff and independent counsel. Einstein Academy will also be allowed to comment.
“We will be listening to the recommendation from our staff,” Umeck said. “The petition was fully vetted both by our staff and by independent counsel who is experienced in charter law and will be looking at both the financial and the programs of the petition.”
