The track he died at hosted a memorial less than two weeks ago for another young Santa Clarita Valley rider who was killed almost two years ago.

The family built the Cory Tarrant Piru Motocross Park Pavilion to honor their son's memory.

The Tarrants became owners of C and D Motosports in Saugus to support the efforts of their son, who was a local student at Opportunities For Learning, a Hart district charter school.

“Everyone’s out there on the track for the same reason, that they love to ride,” said Cory's mother, Kathy Tarrant, shortly before her son's memorial in January. “And you need to be respectful of your fellow riders. We always taught our kids that -- to respect the sport.”
