Maria Gutzeit was the leading vote-getter, earning 1,089 votes in her district, which was 27.42 percent of the vote.

Gutzeit’s term could be a short one. She also has declared her intention to run for Santa Clarita City Council in April’s election.

B.J. Atkins came in second, with 1,047 votes, or 26.36 percent of the turnout.

Kathy Colley, who earned her second term, came in third with 939 votes.

Carl Puckett, a water engineer, came in fourth, making him unsuccessful in his bid to unseat an incumbent.

He grabbed 897 votes.

KHTS AM-1220, along with SCVTV and SIgnal Multimedia hosted a candidate forum for the water board in October.

Colley and Puckett elected not to attend.

There are 26,708 registered voters to vote in the district.

A video of the Newhall County Water District candidate forum is also available on KHTS AM-1220’s YouTube page.
