The nonprofit provides a variety of services for teens, such as mentoring, counseling, support groups, employment assistance, and more.

SCV Youth Project serves all teens in the Santa Clarita Valley regardless of need, though the organization has historically targeted at-risk, low-income, and socially marginalized youth.

Beyond the Surface, SCV Youth’s monthly newsletter, samples the range of issues that the organization helps teenagers deal with every day.

Youth Project counselors work with teens on everything from coping with the aftereffects of abuse to overcoming grief and guilt after losing someone close.

One young man is unhappy with his parent’s constant arguing and rocky relationship and feels the need to protect his 6-year-old brother. He says that being able to talk with Youth Project staff has been his only outlet as he does not feel comfortable talking about these issues with family or friends.

One 14-year-old works on his suicidal tendencies with Youth Project counselors who help him realize positive aspects of himself.

After months of working with a counselor, a young woman revealed that she had been molested by a family member and is now working through the trauma of the assault with Youth Project counselors.

Another young woman struggles with her sexuality, which she feels she cannot be honest about to her peers, family members, and her church.

In a teenage grief group counseling session, teens created a collage of memories with their loved ones who had passed, later expressing gratitude for the activity.

The Youth Project has been successfully providing free services to teens in the Santa Clarita Valley for 13 years. Since their doors opened in 2000, the Youth Project has assisted more than 33,000 local families, including 28,000 youth and 6,000 adults.
