Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives are seeking the public’s help in finding a burglary suspect who was caught on camera.

 

The burglary happened on the 27000 block of Victoria Lane in Valencia, near the Bridgeport neighborhood.

 

The man photographed is thought to be responsible for other burglaries in the area.

 

There were several other significant arrests made by deputies, which are highlighted in the station’s weekly Nixle reports, which provide a snapshot of crime for the past week, as well as notify citizens of any local crime trends. Click here to sign up.

 

Below are reports from the different Sheriff zone's throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.

 

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station divides its coverage into five zones for the Nixle reports, which are snapshots of crime in the city. They are listed below alphabetical order.

 

Here's a summary of incidents that took place in the last week in Santa Clarita:

Canyon Country East crime report
This week in Canyon Country-East we had 8 Part-1 crimes. Of those reported crimes, there was 1 residential burglary, 3 larcenies, and 4 vehicle burglaries.

 

A residential burglary occurred in the 27300 block of Palo Verde Place on April 5th, 12:00 am – April 7th 11:40 PM. The unknown suspect(s) entered the apartment through the front door. Deputies observed damage to the entry door, the door frame, and the door knob. Nothing was taken.

 

A grand theft occurred in the 29000 block of Wisteria Valley Rd on March 30th, 1:00 pm - April 30th, 8:00 am. An iron bench was stolen from the victim’s front porch. In another incident, a male was arrested after it was discovered he was in possession of property that did not belong to him. A petty theft occurred from the 28400 block of Alder Peak Avenue. Personal items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

 

Vehicle burglaries occurred from Jakes Way and Canyon Park (1) and Oaks Springs Canyon Road (3) between April 5th 10:00 PM – April 6th 8:00 AM. All were window smashes and personal items were stolen.

 

There were 10 arrests made by proactive deputies for various narcotics violations, assaults and public intoxication.

Canyon Country West crime report
This past week in Zone 7, the following Part-1 Crimes occurred:

(2) Rapes, (2) Aggravated Assaults, (7) Residential Burglaries, (2) Commercial Burglaries, (2) Vehicle Burglaries, (1) Grand Theft, (3) Shoplift, (4) Petty Thefts and (1) GTA.

A rape was reported near the 28300 block of Hillfield Lane. Deputies arrested a suspect, who was the victim’s husband, shortly after the incident. The investigation of this case is ongoing.

A rape was reported near the 20400 block of Elm Avenue. The victim was staying at the suspect’s house for the evening, prior to going out of town, and woke up when the sexual assault was occurring. The case is currently under investigation.

A domestic violence related aggravated assault occurred near the 27500 block of Walnut Springs Avenue. The suspect and victim were involved in an altercation which became physical when the suspect punched the victim in the face. The suspect was arrested at the scene by responding deputies.

An aggravated assault occurred near the 26900 block of Sierra Highway. A man was knocked unconscious during a fight with an unknown suspect. The suspect and victim were part of a group that was dropped off at the location by a party bus.

There were six more residential garage burglaries in the Rainbow Glen Drive/Flo Lane area. An unknown suspect is prying open the door latches and upon entering, ransacking vehicles and the interior of the garages. The suspect(s) is bypassing any garage with a locked deadbolt. These cases are currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Station Detectives.

A commercial burglary occurred near the 18500 block of Soledad Canyon Road. An unknown suspect entered the location and took U.S. currency from the business safe. There was no visible damage to the location or the safe.

Another commercial burglary occurred near the 26800 block of Sierra Highway. Unknown suspects entered the location by breaking through the drywall of an adjoining vacant building and took electronics.

Deputies arrested a suspect for shoplifting near the 26400 block of Carl Boyer Dr. A second suspect was arrested for shoplifting near the 19400 block of Soledad Canyon Road.

Two incidents of petty theft occurred near the 19300 block of Stillmore Street. An unknown suspect took several gallons of gasoline from unoccupied vehicles.

Newhall crime report
This week Newhall (Zone 6) had ten reported Part-1 crimes. Newhall saw one assault, two stolen vehicles, two petty thefts, one grand theft, one robbery, two vehicle burglaries, and one incident of shoplifting.

 

On Thursday, 04/09/2013 at approximately 5:00 p.m., a bicycle was reported stolen from The Old Town Newhall Library. The victim left his bicycle parked (unlocked) inside the library by the front door. The bicycle was stolen (ref -04833).

 

Three men were arrested on Saturday, 04/13/2013 at approximately 11:22 a.m. for allegedly stealing a large amount of metal from the area of Sierra Highway and Remsen Street in Newhall. This area is an old oil refinery which consists of several abandoned buildings. Over the past several years other people have been arrested for stealing metal from this area (ref -05021).

 

A 1999 Honda Civic was stolen from the area of Dockweiler Street and Ivy Lane in Newhall. The vehicle was stolen on Saturday, 04/13/2013 between 7:33 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. (ref -05090).

 

A shoplifting incident occurred on Friday, 04/12/2013 at approximately 11:30 a.m., from the Ralphs located at 24860 Orchard Village Road. The witness reported two black males stole four bottle of vodka (ref -04973).

 

A strong-arm robbery was reported on Sunday, 04/14/2013 at approximately 12:10 a.m., in the area of Spruce Street and 13th Street in Newhall. The victim reported while standing on the sidewalk an unknown suspect came running from behind and grabbed her purse. The investigation is on-going (ref -05059).

 

Saugus crime report
This week we had a slight increase in reported Part-1 crimes. There was a shoplift burglary on Monday, 04/08/13, in the 28400 block of Haskell Canyon Road. A male and female entered the store and stole high end razors from a display rack. Detectives are reviewing surveillance video and actively working the case to locate the suspects.

 

There was another shoplift burglary on Tuesday, 04/09/13, in the 27600 block of Bouquet Canyon Road. The suspect placed several items in his cart and then proceeded through the exit, failing to pay for the items. The suspect was detained outside the store and subsequently arrested when deputies arrived.

 

There was a petty theft from a local drinking establishment in the 26800 block of Bouquet Canyon Road on Wednesday, 04/10/13. The victim secured her bicycle outside the bar and left her duffle bag alongside it, unsecured. After approximately 15 minutes she returned to her bicycle and noticed that her bag had been stolen. Please remember to keep items of value with you while out in public.

 

There was a petty theft from a beauty salon in the 27600 block of Bouquet Canyon Road on Tuesday, 04/09/13. An employee at the location discovered that her purse had been stolen from the rear of the location. She learned that there had been unauthorized transactions on her credit cards later in the day. Detectives are actively working the case.

 

There was a great arrest of commercial burglary suspects on Saturday, 04/13/13. While patrolling the Saugus area a deputy spotted a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a closed business. Upon further investigation a female was detained after finding the back door to the business open and evidence that a burglary had occurred. After learning that a second suspect had been involved there was a search of the area.

 

The search for the second suspect stretched over two shifts. With the help of alert citizens in Saugus, deputies were able to locate the second suspect who was then arrested for burglary.

Valencia
Zone 5-Valencia reported seventeen Part-1 Crimes during the past week. The criminal incidents included a residential burglary, vehicle burglaries, theft from an unlocked vehicle, and shoplifting from local businesses.

 

A residential burglary occurred in the 25400 block of Via Nautica Street. Entry was made via an unlocked window. Jewelry was stolen from the master bedroom.

 

Two vehicle burglaries occurred. One vehicle was parked in a lot at the 25400 block of Rockwell Canyon Road. Entry was made by smashing the rear passenger window. Items stolen were a laptop computer, car stereo, wallet, and car charger. The second burglary occurred in the 27500 block of Wellington Court. The vehicle was parked in the victim’s driveway and no forced entry was made. The victim’s checkbook, which was visible from the outside of the vehicle, was stolen.

 

There was a theft from an unlocked vehicle that occurred in the 27000 block of Victoria Lane. The vehicle was parked in the guest parking lot area of the complex. Items stolen were a phone charger, makeup bag and loose change from the ash tray. Most of the items stolen were visible from outside the victim’s vehicle.

 

Do not become a victim! Please do not leave valuables unattended or visible in your vehicles. Secure items in locked trunks or take personal belongings with you when you exit your vehicle. If possible, park in well-lit areas. If you see any suspicious activity or vehicles in your neighborhood, please call the Sheriff’s Station immediately at 661-255-1121.

 

There were multiple arrests made by proactive Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area last week. Arrests included possession of narcotics, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, drunk in public, warrants and shoplifting from local businesses.
