Sheriff’s Station detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying a pair of burglary suspects, who broke into several schools recently.

The suspects, who are believed to be two juveniles, are accused of breaking into and vandalizing multiple schools, including Old Orchard and Newhall elementaries, as well as Sierra Vista Junior High and Hart High School.

Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are also investigating a dead body found off San Francisquito Canyon Road.

There were several other significant arrests made by deputies, which are highlighted in the station’s weekly Nixle reports, which provide a snapshot of crime for the past week, as well as notify citizens of any local crime trends.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station divides its coverage into five zones for the Nixle reports, which are snapshots of crime in the city. They are listed below alphabetical order.

Here’s a summary of incidents that took place in the last week in Santa Clarita:

Canyon Country – East

This week in Canyon Country-East we had 8 Part-1 crimes. Of those reported crimes, there was 1 residential burglary, 3 larcenies, and 4 vehicle burglaries.

A residential burglary occurred in the 27300 block of Palo Verde Place on April 5th, 12:00 am – April 7th 11:40 PM. The unknown suspect(s) entered the apartment through the front door. Deputies observed damage to the entry door, the door frame, and the door knob. Nothing was taken.

A grand theft occurred in the 29000 block of Wisteria Valley Rd on March 30th, 1:00 pm – April 30th, 8:00 am. An iron bench was stolen from the victim’s front porch. In another incident, a male was arrested after it was discovered he was in possession of property that did not belong to him. A petty theft occurred from the 28400 block of Alder Peak Avenue. Personal items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

Vehicle burglaries occurred from Jakes Way and Canyon Park (1) and Oaks Springs Canyon Road (3) between April 5th 10:00 PM – April 6th 8:00 AM. All were window smashes and personal items were stolen.

There were 10 arrests made by proactive deputies for various narcotics violations, assaults and public intoxication.

Canyon Country – West

This past week in Zone 7, the following Part-1 Crimes occurred:

(1) Robbery, (5) Residential Burglaries, (2) Commercial Burglaries, (1) Vehicle Burglary, (1) Theft From Unlocked Vehicle, (2) Shoplift, (5) Grand Thefts and (3) Petty Thefts.

A strong arm robbery occurred near the 26700 block of Isabella Parkway. Two juvenile subjects approached the victims and demanded their skateboards. One subject shot one of the victims in the leg with a BB gun. The subjects then took the victim’s skateboards and fled the scene. The victims were able to retrieve their skateboards shortly after the subjects discarded them. The case is currently under investigation.

Four residential garage burglaries occurred near the intersection of Rainbow Glen Road/Flo Lane. An unknown suspect broke into the garages and ransacked the areas and several vehicles parked inside the garages. Another residential garage burglary occurred near the 26800 block of Claudette Street. It was unknown at the time of the incident if anything was taken.

A commercial burglary occurred near the 19400 block of Stillmore Street. Two suspects shattered windows to an administration building. Upon entering, the suspects took a television and several laptop computers.

A shoplift burglary occurred near the 20600 block of Golden Triangle Road. The suspect entered the location and paid for an item. After exiting the location, the suspect re-entered and took several items and exited without paying. The suspect was detained by loss prevention and subsequently arrested by responding deputies.

Another shoplift burglary occurred near the 19400 block of Soledad Canyon Road. The suspect walked out of the location without paying for several items. A witness followed the suspect and notified the Sheriff’s Department. The suspect was arrested by responding deputies.

A Grand Theft occurred when the victim was contacted by an unknown suspect informing the victim he was the winner of one million dollars. The victim was required to send a substantial amount of money in order to receive the million dollar prize. The victim sent the money to the suspect and was unable to contact the suspect once the money was received. The elderly are often the unfortunate victims of these scams based on the fact they are perceived as easy targets with access to large sums of money.

Newhall

This week Newhall saw six part one crimes. Two commercial burglaries, one vehicle burglary, one residential burglary, and two petty thefts.

Both Newhall Elementary School and Hart High School were broken into this week. Items were stolen. Click here for further – https://local.nixle.com/alert/4984752/

A cell phone was reported stolen from inside the Old Town Newhall Library on Saturday, 04/06/13. While the victim was in the computer lab he placed his cell phone next to the computer and it was stolen (ref -04680).

A vehicle burglary was reported from the 24800 block of Walnut Street during the night time hours on Sunday, 03/31/13. Misc. school books and Iraqi Currency was stolen (ref -04417).

On Wednesday, 04/03/13 at approximately 3:20pm deputies contacted a 59 year old female from Newhall on Lyons Avenue and Wiley Canyon Road. The 59 year old woman was standing in the roadway when deputies contacted her. After an investigation, deputies arrested the woman for possession of methamphetamine and possession of narcotic paraphernalia (ref -04538).

Saugus

Good afternoon Saugus. There were only two reported Part-1 crimes this week. Both of the crimes occurred over one week ago. The first reported crime was a theft from a boat at a storage yard sometime between 01/01/13 through 02/25/13.

The storage yard is located in the 25600 block of Springbrook Avenue. The victim had the stereo stolen from his boat, however, other high dollar water skiing equipment was not touched.

There was a petty theft from a residence in the 27600 block of Susan Beth Way between Saturday, 03/23/13 and Friday, 03/29/13. The victim had a house guest who stole numerous items from his residence. Detectives are working this case.

There were numerous great arrests over the past week. In one incident, a deputy made a traffic stop of a vehicle for numerous traffic violations. After contacting the driver he smelled the odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle. After searching the driver he found marijuana and other narcotics in his possession.

The driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and driver in possession of marijuana.

Valencia

Zone 5-Valencia reported fourteen Part-1 Crimes during the past week. The criminal incidents included residential/vehicle burglaries, and shoplifting from local businesses.

Two residential burglaries occurred between the 24000-27000 block of Victoria Lane on the same day between the hours of 9:00 am- 2:30 pm. Entry/exit was made via the side garage door. Victims reported that the garage door lock/key hole had been damaged. The items stolen included various tools, flash lights and security camera systems. This case is under investigation.

Two vehicle burglaries occurred in various areas of Valencia. One vehicle was parked in a parking space at the 23500 of Lyons Avenue. Entry/exit was made by smashing the rear passenger window. Items stolen were jackets and spare keys. The second burglary occurred on the 24100 block of Creekside Road. There was forced entry made to the passenger door. Items stolen were an Apple IPad and the victim’s credit cards. All items stolen were visible from outside the victim’s vehicles.

A Valencia accountant also was arrested for corporal injury on spouse/cohabitant March 30, according to arrest records.

Do not become a victim! Please do not leave valuables unattended or visible in your vehicles. Secure items in locked trunks or take personal belongings with you when you exit your vehicle. If possible, park in well-lit areas. If you see any suspicious activity or vehicles in your neighborhood, please call the Sheriff’s Station immediately at 661-255-1121.

There were twenty six arrests made by proactive Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area last week. Arrests included spousal battery, possession of narcotics, driving under the influence of alcohol, drunk in public, warrants and shoplifting from local businesses.
