Santa Clarita Valley Orthodontist Receives International Attention

A Santa Clarita Valley orthodontist has been named “Orthodontic Provider of the Week” by an international nonprofit, according to a Smiles Changes Lives news release.

Dr. Kathleen L. Mulcahey, DDS of Mulcahey Orthodontics was recently selected to be featured as the “Orthodontic Provider of the Week” by Smiles Change Lives (SCL), an international nonprofit that provides access to life-changing orthodontic treatment to children from low-income families, according to the news release.

“Each week, Smiles Change Lives recognizes the work of one orthodontic provider, a team of providers or an orthodontic practice, that goes above and beyond the call of duty to support SCL’s mission of bringing improved self esteem and healthy, happy smiles to the faces of children in need,” according to officials with the organization.

Dr. Mulcahey has been a part SCL’s unique network of orthodontists since 2010, and her practice currently has 13 SCL participants in treatment.

“I have been involved with SCL for several years now, and it has been a joy to treat the kids who have come through my office. I know that none of these kids would have been able to receive treatment without the program, and without exception they have been excellent patients,” Mulcahey said in a statement, “It is gratifying to know that my contributions are changing the lives of these kids. My staff and I love our SCL patients.”

Based on her personal experience with orthodontics, Mulcahey understands the difference that a healthy smile can make in a child’s life. After getting her braces removed in high school, Mulcahey was shocked to see how much better she felt, according to a news release.

“I remember how much it impacted me to have braces when I was their age, and to be able to share that with less fortunate teens is humbling,” said Mulcahey.

According to the news release, Dr. Mulcahey Orthodontics was recognized on the Smiles Change Lives website, and Facebook page.
