“This is our fourth year in a row doing the Last Sip Of Summer event,” said Jim Backer, President of the Santa Clarita Valley Education Foundation.  “It’s a fundraiser to support the Santa Clarita Valley ImageEducation Foundation. “

Santa Clarita residents met at 3:00 p.m. to participate in the wine tasting contest and for those who are not wine fans, Wolf Creek provided beer to taste.

“The Santa Clarita Valley Education Foundation has been a foundation since 1995 and we have been working to help the community 1985, “ he said.

The Santa Clarita Valley Education Foundation usually fundraises around $3,000-4,000 from this event which usually has around 180 people, he said.

“The foundation is committed to supporting the public schools in the Santa Clarita Valley,” said Backer. “We have done Principal for a Day, teacher scholarships, and other programs. We also provide scholarships for kids who want to become home school teachers.”

A live band, golf putting contest, and raffles were also part of the evening’s entertainment.

“We’re here to help kids K-12,” Backer said. “This is a chance for us to get people together and have a nice enjoyable afternoon.
