Santa Clarita Valley Deputies Need Community’s Help In Identifying Suspect

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies are asking for the community’s help in identifying a man suspected of multiple home break-ins, officials said Friday.

The suspect was accused of burglarizing two Saugus homes, then using a stolen credit card at a local area Wal-Mart. The suspect is described as a male, white or Hispanic, approximately 18 to 28 years old.

The first burglary was reported Aug. 14, between midnight and 7 a.m., on the 21600 block of Parvin Drive.

The victim said he had his screen door locked, but it had been cut open by the “hot prowl” suspect when the owner noticed it the next morning.

A “hot prowl” burglary is a type of burglary in which the suspect enters a building or residence while occupants are inside the location, according to a Sheriff’s Department statement.Google Maps Image Parvin Drive, Santa Clarita

Hot prowl burglaries are considered especially dangerous by law enforcement because of the potential for a violent altercation to erupt between the occupant and the suspect.

The victim reported his laptop, cellphone and iPad to be missing, along with his wife’s purse.

A suspect was seen leaving a local Wal-Mart later that day in a surveillance video after reportedly using a credit card stolen from inside the residence.

Another residential burglary was reported Aug. 15 at approximately 8:15 p.m.

Detectives do not believe these two burglaries are related.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives are currently investigating these incidents.

If you know the identity of the suspect or his whereabouts, detectives are asking that you call LA Crime Stoppers by dialing 800-222-TIPS (8477), texting the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637), or using the websitehttp://lacrimestoppers.org. If you have any further information in regards to either of these residential burglaries please contact Detective Marino at 661-255-1121 or by email at mtmarino@lasd.org.

More information regarding these incidents will be released as it becomes available.
