The Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center on Market Street in Newhall is hosting a free seminar on Wednesday at 1 p.m., presented by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, for those worried that a loved one may have a problem with hoarding.
The seminar is part of the Senior Center’s series of health and wellness discussions and will examine the differences between collecting, cluttering and hoarding, as well as the help available for caregivers or individuals who may have a problem.
Hoarding is marked by a compulsive accumulation of usually worthless possessions and a corresponding inability to discard anything, according to a report by AARP.
The Senior Center hosts health and wellness classes every Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. in rooms A-1 and A-2. Click here for a calendar of Senior Center events or call 661-259-9444.
