The city of Santa Clarita’s retail economy continues to recover from the recession, as evidenced by recent recognition in the 2013 California Retail Survey.

Santa Clarita ranked no. 38 among the “Top 50 California Billion Dollar Retail Markets.” The 50 retail markets with annual retail sales of mor than $1 billion, represent 41 percent of California’s annual retail sale.
Santa Clarita saw a 7.2 percent increase in sales tax revenue between 2011 and 2012. In addition, several new restaurants, businesses and auto dealers came to the city during the last year. The Valencia Auto Center is Southern California’s largest auto mall and the city’s leading sales tax generator.
“A strong retail environment is the foundation of a healthy economy and a resilient community,” said Mayor Bob Kellar. “This report demonstrates the confidence Santa Clarita residents, business owners and retailers have in our community as well as the city’s commitment to building a strong economy and supporting more jobs.”
