For the first time ever, the festival will run for two days, kicking off at 5 p.m. Friday, and running from noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday.
“It was usually just Saturday, and now we added Friday,” said John Heys, founder of the Santa Clarita Music Festival. “We keep hoping it gets a little bit bigger and a little bit better each year.”
Since its inception, the Santa Clarita Music Festival has been bringing jazz, blues, and country music to the Santa Clarita Valley every fall.
“I came up with the idea basically because people who wanted great music would have to travel to the Hollywood Bowl or the Greek to get it,” Heys said. “So, I wanted to bring great music to Santa Clarita.”
Keeping true to Heys’ word to bring great music to Santa Clarita and draw music lovers to the newly added Friday show, Heys and his promotion company, Ultimate Promotion, booked the Swon Brothers, a country music duo and finalists on NBC’s The Voice, as the headlining act.
Other acts include: Grammy-nominated jazz musician Gerald Albright; guitarist Paul Jackson Jr., from The Tonight Show; and Los Angeles-based Teresa James & the Rhythm Tramps, who’ve just completed a European tour, among many other great artists.
“I’m excited to see all of it,” Heys said. “I’ll be working throughout the whole thing and will miss most acts, but I’m still excited.”
Patrons of the Santa Clarita Music Festival will have a host of national and local vendors, including Our Place BBQ & Soul Food and Wolf Creek Restaurant & Brewing Co., to choose from.
Those vendors have been loyal to the festival since it first began.
“They’ve all been back before, and they like it so much they’re coming back again,” Heys said.
Two-day and single-day tickets for the Santa Clarita Music Festival can be purchased at www.scvmusicfest.com.
The site also offers information on how to volunteer for this exciting musical event.
