Health screenings were provided for free by the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital with help from 20 volunteers from Charter College.

Free health screenings were provided by Henry Mayo at Saturday's community health fair in Canyon Country.Gary Buterbaugh, Event Coordinator For Henry Mayo, said the event was a way to provide helpful services to those who may not have access to them.

“All screenings are important for basic health and are easy to do,” Buterbaugh said. “For people without health insurance, or who can’t make it to regular checkups, this is a good way to take full advantage of getting their health screenings with medical professionals.”

In addition to the screenings, approximately 20 different booths were set up outside in the center’s parking lot. Organizations such as the Santa Clarita Aquatics Center, Covered California, the Child and Family Center and the Girl Scouts were in attendance to share health information with the public.

Around 200 people attended the event to gain information about available services, according to Susie Cordova, Human Services Coordinator for the City of Santa Clarita.

“The purpose of today was to help protect people in Santa Clarita,” Cordova said. “There were free health screenings provided by Henry Mayo and booths set up to help share information.”
