Action Family Foundation “Holiday Family Fun”

When:  Friday through Sunday, December 6, 7 and 8 from 7-9pm
Where:  Old Town Newhall, along Main Street
Details:  Action Foundation is hosting a one-of-a-kind Holiday Family Fun event featuring Hayrides and/or Antique Fire Truck rides to see the holiday lighting in Old Town Newhall.  The ride includes hot chocolate and photos with Santa Claus.  Rides will run every 15 minutes.  All proceeds will benefit the Action Family Foundation’s continued fight against substance abuse with our local youth.  Reservations can be made ahead or just come join in the fun at the event.  More information and reservations are available online.

Valencia Marketplace “Holiday Celebration”

When:  Saturday, December 7 from noon-3pm
Where:  Valencia Marketplace on The Old Road between McBean Parkway and Lyons Avenue at the Valencia Marketplace Amphitheater – near Noah’s Bagels (closer to McBean Parkway)
Details:  Valencia Marketplace is holding a “Holiday Celebration” to kick-off the holiday season and KHTS will be there, too.  Valencia Marketplace may be our one-stop shopping place but they also want to give back to the community with family fun.  There will be musical performances by several local school choirs and other groups.  The KHTS 1948 Mack Fire Truck will be available for photos.  There will be prizes and store discounts.  More information is available online.

Action Family Foundation “Holiday Boutique”

When:  Saturday, December 7 from 1-5pm
Where:  Action Family Zone, 20655 Soledad Canyon Road, Ste 24 – on Soledad at Ruether, across from Home Depot
Details:  Action Family Foundation is holding a “Holiday Boutique”.  Stroll tables of holiday and seasonal items to give as gift or for holiday decorating.  The Boutique is open to the public and admission is free. 

Canyon Theatre Guild “It’s A Wonderful Life”

When:  8pm performances:  December 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21;  2pm Matinees: December 1, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22;  Weeknights at 7pm: December 17, 18, 19; 6pm performance:  Sunday, December 22

Details:  Canyon Theatre Guild has the ultimate in Christmas season performances “It’s A Wonderful Life”.  “This is a warm and wonderful adaptation of Frank Capra’s beloved movie which tells the saga of George Bailey, the Everyman from the small town of Bedford Falls.  His dreams of travel and adventure have been quashed by family obligations and civic duty, and his Guardian Angel has to descend on Christmas Eve to save him from despair and to remind him that his has been, after all, a wonderful life.”  Tickets are $17-19 for adults and $15-17 for juniors and seniors.  More information and tickets are available by calling 799-2702 or online.

Real Life Church “Colors Of Christmas” 

When:  Thursday, December 12 at 7:30pm; Friday, December 13 at 7:30pm; Saturday, December 14 at 2pm and 7:30pm
Where:  Real Life Church, 23841 Newhall Ranch Road, Valencia – between McBean and Grandview
Details:  Real Life Church invites our families to “experience the colors of Christmas” as a new holiday tradition.  There will be an outdoor tree lighting ceremony featuring lights, music and snow.  Strolling Victorian carolers will be singing traditional holiday classics.  Photo booths will be available for creating a treasured memory.  Food trucks will be on hand, and coffee and hot chocolate will be served in Undergrounds Coffeehouse.  Tickets are $5 each.  More information and tickets are available online.


Henry Mayo’s “33rd Annual Home Tour”

When:  Saturday, December 7 from 9:30am-4:30pm
Where:  various locations throughout Santa Clarita Valley

Repertory East Playhouse “Play It Again, Sam”

When:  November 15 through December 14, Friday and Saturdays at 8pm, Sunday Matinees at 2pm
Where:  Repertory East Playhouse, 24266 Main Street in Old Town Newhall
Details:  Repertory East Playhouse has Woody Allen’s “Play It Again, Sam”.  “It’s still the same old story, a fight for love and glory.”  The play is about a recently divorced writer of film commentary that is being urged to date again by his best friend and his best friend’s wife.  Come an hour before the show and stop at The Hideaway Lounge featuring full-service cocktails.  Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students and seniors.  Tickets and information on the Opening Night Gala are available online


YMCA “Snow Fest”

When:  Saturday, December 7 from 10am-1pm
Where:  YMCA, 26147 McBean Parkway, Valencia

Canyon Theatre Guild “10th Annual Holipalooza”

Placerita Canyon Nature Center “Holiday Craft Fair” 

When:  Saturday and Sunday, December 7 and 8 from 10am-3pm on both days
Where:  Placerita Canyon Nature Center, 19152 Placerita Canyon Road, Newhall – 1-1/2 miles east of Highway 14
Details:  The Placerita Canyon Nature Center’s “Holiday Craft Fair” has become a Santa Clarita Valley holiday staple.  “Create and decorate your own holiday wreaths, centerpieces, candles and ornaments using a large assortment of fresh-cut greenery, pine cones and other beautiful natural treasures.”  Kid’s crafts include candle dipping, bead bracelets and pinecone art.  Santa will be visiting.  The charge for most crafts is $2 and wreaths start at $12.  Cash and check only.  Parking and admission is free.  More information is available by calling 259-7721 or online.  


Santa Clarita’s Literacy & Arts Festival

Details:  The City of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita Valley Education Foundation is again holding the Santa Clarita’s Literacy & Arts Festival.  “Enjoy the fun of books, explore the melodies of music, and experience the enchantment of visual and performing arts in a delightful and exciting atmosphere.”  This year the festival will feature The Drei Little Wolfe Und The Big Bad Schwein (The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig), instrumental petting zoo, stories read by favorite authors and community leaders, writing and bookmark contest, exhibits and interactive demos, poetree and art journaling, Journalist for a Day, and drum circle provided by Remo.  More information, contest rules and applications are available online.


Worldwide Candle Lighting

Details:  The Santa Clarita Chapter of The Compassionate Friends invites us to participate in the Worldwide Candle Lighting To Remember Children, Siblings & Grandchildren. “The death of a child is devastating and it’s important to the family that the child always be remembered.  That’s why members of the Santa Clarita Chapter of The Compassionate Friends (TCF) will participate in an annual worldwide event designed to honor the memories of all children, regardless of age, who have died.”  This event will feature live music, poems, and a slide show. Military Family Holiday Baskets

Details: Prayer Angels for the Military is organizing Military Family Holiday Baskets for military families in need. “For military families, the holidays can be a difficult time, especially with their loved ones deployed. Separation can be financially and emotionally exhausting, especially during the holidays.” Holiday Baskets are a great way to show our appreciation. Baskets for a single service member are also accepted. What’s needed:  box up and decorate goods for a family to cook up a holiday meal of their own, or donate a grocery gift card for the family to purchase their own holiday dinner and trimmings. You can also include handmade holiday goodies, crafts or ornaments. Help with gift giving by donating toys for children ages 1-12, gift cards, pre-paid credit cards, gas cards or movie tickets.
