KHTS Home & Garden Show 2014

KHTS Emergency Expo 2014

When:  Saturday, March 29 from 9am-5pm
Where:  Hyatt Regency Valencia, 24500 Town Center Drive at McBean Parkway
Details:  As part of the KHTS Home & Garden Show, the Emergency Expo will be showcased on the first day.  The Emergency Expo will have displays, presentations and drills from local emergency response teams.  The exhibitors will feature products and services for emergency preparedness, response and recovery.  Learn more online.   

KHTS Arts & Crafts Show 2014

When:  Sunday, March 30 from 10am-4pm
Where:  Hyatt Regency Valencia, 24500 Town Center Drive at McBean Parkway
Details:  New to the KHTS Home & Garden Show will be the Arts & Crafts Show on Sunday.  As many as 60 local artists and crafters will be available showing and selling their work.  Enjoy finding gifts for yourself, your home, and as gifts.  With vendor names like Stella & Dot, Blankies by Boo, Origami Owl, Daisy Dots & Lady Buds, Bling It On Sisters, and Dog Tags Bling to name a few, the show is bound to be creative and exciting.  Learn more online

Bethany HamiltonReal Life Church “Bethany Hamilton”

When:  Saturday, March 29 at 5pm; Sunday, March 30 at 8:30am, 10am, 11:30am and 5pm

Details:    Real Life Church has a very special guest, pro-surfer Bethany Hamilton.  Bethany will share her courageous and inspirational story.  You may have seen the movie, “Soul Surfer,” depicting her experience in surviving a shark attack.  At 7pm and 9pm there will be a free screening of the movie.  More information is available by calling 661-775-7401 or online.  

Canyon Theatre Guild “Damn Yankees”

Brittany Foundation “Comedy For Canines” 

When:  Friday, March 28 at 8pm for auction/raffle and 9pm for show
Where:  JR’s Comedy Club, inside Marie Callender’s, 27630 The Old Road at Magic Mountain Parkway

Project Kindle “Moments In Time”

St. Clare Lenten Fish Fry

When:  Fridays from 4:30-8pm from March 7 through April 11
Where:  Saint Clare of Assisi, 19606 Calla Way, Canyon Country
Details:  Lent is here and St. Clare’s is again holding their Lenten Fish Fry.  The dinners include beer battered Alaska cod, French fries or rice pilaf, coleslaw, rolls, and coffee, tea or milk.  Desserts are available for purchase at the Bake Sale table.  Other beverages are available for purchase.  A two-piece dinner is $9 and three-piece for $10.  Meals are dine-in or take-out.  Proceeds benefit the needy in Santa Clarita. 

Friends Of The Santa Clarita Public Library “Meet Best-Selling Author Jamie Ford”

When:  Friday, March 28 at 7pm
Where:  Old Town Newhall Library, 24500 Main Street, Old Town Newhall

Circle Of Hope “Run For Their Lives”

When:  Saturday, April 5 from 7:30am-2pm, walk starts at 9am
Where:  Castaic Lake, Lower Lagoon, 32132 Castaic Lake Drive, Castaic 
Details:  The Circle of Hope “Run For Their Lives” is more than a 5K Run.  The day also includes a Family Fun Zone, People’s Choice Car Show, food & refreshments, vendors, and more.  The Family Fun Zone requires a purchase wristband and includes rock climbing wall, bounce house, inflatable basketball hoops, face painting, and other activities.  The People’s Choice Car Show takes place along the 5K route.  Over 30 vendors have signed up for the event offering goods and services.  You can register your dog for the walk, too.  Circle Of Hope provides financial, emotional, and educational support for breast cancer patients, and their families, here in the Santa Clarita Valley.  More information and registration is available online.   

City Of Santa Clarita CERT Training 

When:  Thursday, April 3 – seven consecutive Thursdays from 6-9pm each Thursday
Where:  City’s Transit Maintenance Facility, 28250 Constellation Road
Details:  The City of Santa Clarita is offering CERT – Community Emergency Response Training.  This training is a nationally certified course designed to help families, neighborhoods, schools and businesses to prepare for emergency/disaster responses through training and preplanning.  The course includes:  fire suppression/utility control, light search & rescue, triage, medical operations, incident command, terrorism, psychological first aid, and disaster preparedness.  Each class is three hours long.  The cost is $30 for course materials and equipment.  More information and registration is available online.

Kidspace Museum “Nano Days”

Where:  Kidspace Museum, 480 N Arroyo Boulevard, Pasadena
Details:  Kidspace Museum celebrates children with a wide variety of events.  “Nano Days” is a day of hands-on activities and demonstrations about the wonders of all things “nano.”  “Learn what it means to be nano-scale, explore the different and unexpected properties of materials at nano-scale, see how nanotechnology runs the electronics we use everyday, and find out how nanotechnology is shaping our future.”  The mission of Kidspace is to promote education and enrich the lives of children, families, and the community through interactive experience in science, art, and the humanities.  Explore the Imagination Workshop, Glavin Physics Forest, Digging Deeper Gallery, Nature Exchange, Early Childhood Learning Center, and Outdoor Play area.  Currently the Kidspace Museum is in the middle of the 2014 Butterfly Season through May 4, including Caterpillar Adoption.  Learn more about Kidspace online.
