Citrus Classic Balloon Festival 2014Citrus Classic Balloon Festival 2014

When:  Friday, July 25 from 6pm-11pm and Saturday, July 26 from 6:30am-11pm
Where:  off Highway 126 in Santa Paula (18249 E. Telegraph Road)
Details:  The 7th Annual Citrus Classic Balloon Festival gives us over 30 hot air balloons and fun activities for all ages.  The Festival includes: tethered balloon rides, free train rides, skydivers & stunt planes, Evening Balloon Glows, Sunset Wine Dinner,  Craft Beer Dinner, car show, live entertainment, AfterGlow Party, Tasting Pavilions, and more. There will be a Vintage Trailer Village, and Kids Fun Zone with a farm petting zoo, climbing wall and teepee. Rancho Camulos  has been selected as one of the non-profits benefiting from the 2014 Citrus Classic Balloon Festival. Valencia Jazz And Blues Concert Series  

When:   Friday, July 25 from 7-9:30pm
Where:  On Town Center Drive (at McBean Parkway) next to the Hyatt Regency Valencia

Triumph Foundation

Triumph Foundation “Let 'Em Roll Casino Night”

When:  Saturday, July 26 at 6pm
Where:  Hyatt Regency Valencia, 24500 Town Center Drive – at McBean Parkway

Canyon Theatre Guild “Forever Plaid”

Details:  Canyon Theatre Guild has the hilarious “Forever Plaid,” the “most popular and successful ‘jukebox’ musicals ever.”  “Forever Plaid” revolves around four 1950s male singers that are killed in a car crash on the way to their first big concert.  They are given the chance to “fulfill their dreams and perform the show that never was.”  You’ll want to croon along to songs from the show that includes: Heart & Soul, Sixteen Tons, Love Is A Many Splendored Things.  For tickets call the Canyon Theatre Guild Box Office at 661-799-2702.  More information is available online.  

LA SummerFest “Cabaret”

When:  Friday, July 25; Saturday, July 26; and Sunday, July 27 – gates open at 6pm, performances begin at 7:30pm 
Where:  Rivendale Park in Towsley Canyon, 24255 The Old Road, Newhall
Details:  Prepare a picnic dinner, and grab blankets and chairs for LA SummerFest’s production of “Cabaret.” “Experience the joy, fear, romance, and heartbreak of 1930 Berlin in this ‘hauntingly addictive’ production.”   LA SummerFest is a series of cultural festivals: free concerts, Shakespeare, opera, praise music, and the SCV Concert Band.  Admission is free for this evening under the stars.  Wine and beer will be available at these performances.   This performance has adult material and may not be suitable for children.  More information and directions is available online.   

Summer Movies At Hart Park

When:  Friday, July 11 at 7pm
Where:  William S. Hart Regional Park, 24151 Newhall Avenue, Newhall
Details:  Summer Movies at Hart Park are back.  This week’s movie is “Despicable Me 2." This family free event is outdoor movie fun.  Bring your blankets, pillows and lawn chairs.  There will be pre-movie music, entertainment, and games.  Unleashed animals, smoking, and alcohol are prohibited in the park at all times.  Other movies in the series: The Nut Job - August 8; and finally The Wizard of Oz (1939 re-mastered) - August 22.  The movies are hosted by The County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with The Friends of Hart Park.

City Of Santa Clarita “Summer Bash”

When:  Friday, July 25 from 6pm-10pm Where:  Luther Drive in Canyon Country – near Oggi’s
Details:  The City of Santa Clarita is hosting a “Summer Bash” Beach Party.  “Summer Bash will transform Luther Drive into a family-friendly beach experience compete with live rock n’ roll music, food trucks, fun family activities, and 75 tons of sand.”  This is a free event and will include crafts, raffles and prizes.  Learn more online.  

City Of Santa Clarita “Let’s Go To The Beach”

When:  now through Sunday, August 31
Where:  various locations throughout Santa Clarita
Details:  Grab your towel and sunscreen and had out to Santa Monica Beach, the easy way.  The City of Santa Clarita is again offering rides on air-conditioned commuter express buses.  Travelers can bring their beach chair, coolers and even surfboards.  Summer Beach Bus fares are $3 each way for children and adults, and $1.50 each way for Seniors and persons with disabilities.  Exact cash fares or TAP stored value only – no monthly passes accepted.  Those under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult.  Unaccompanied minors must bring valid school identification.  More information on routes and pickup locations, RSVP for large groups, bus etiquette, and more is available by calling 661-294-1BUS or online

Details:  The Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry is part of the Sixth Annual “Summer Food Drive” to help Santa Clarita Valley families in need.  Take a trip to the grocery store and help fill the SCV Food Pantry.  Summer is a tough time for the Food Pantry because so many donating families are on the go in the summer and not donating at the same levels as the holidays.  At the same time, local children that may benefit from school programs are out of school for the summer.  Read more about what is needed in an article on the KHTS website: Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry To Host Summer Food Drive.  Donation Bins are located: City Hall, Santa Clarita Sports Complex, Transit Maintenance Facility, Central Park, City’s Corporate Yard, Valencia Library, Old Town Newhall Library, and Canyon Country Library.  Learn more about the Santa Clarita Food Pantry online

Canyon Theatre Guild “Summer Youth Workshops”

CTG Juniors is for ages 10-13.  
The CTG Juniors will work on “The Magical Land of Oz.”

These workshops are limited to 25 students.

Ekata Training Center

Details:  Ekata’s mission is to fuse ancient tradition with science and technology.  Ekata is a family experience.  There are programs for Little Pandas ages 3-5 years, through the 13-16 teen Bridge Program, to Adult Curriculum.  At Ekata, it isn’t all about the workout, but also about massage, acupuncture, physical therapy, and nutrition and herbology.  There is even a childcare center that takes care of the little ones while Mom gets a massage, takes a yoga class, or just sits down to have a hot tea and read a magazine.  More information is available by calling 661-255-1114 or online.

Ice Station Valencia “Summer Camp”Ice Station Valencia

Details:  Ice Station Valencia has “Kidtastic Summer Camp, the coolest camp in town.”  Campers can attend full-day, half-day morning, and half-day afternoon sessions.  They will participate in fun and age appropriate crafts and games, with special events including Play In Snow and Broomball.  They will also get an introduction to Broomball, Speed Skating, Curling, and Hockey.  Every Friday, campers participate in the Ice Station Valencia Winter Olympic Games with fun relays and contests.  For an ice skating outing, consider the KHTS Restaurant Row program for half-price admission certificates.   Certificates are available online or at KTHS, 27225 CampPlenty, Ste 8 – at SoledadCanyon.     More information is available by calling 661-755-8686 or online.

MB2 Raceway

Where:  MB2 Raceway. 13943 Balboa Boulevard, Sylmar

Santa Clarita Ballet "Summer Workshops"
